This post is about something I saw Back in Sept. 2020, older info but still really relevant to this day, make sure to keep an eye out on your categories. 

Check your categories! it seemed that Amazon recently in some categories might have made a switch- as you can see below this particular product was classified into the Health and Household and Beauty and self-care category but as of September 18th it switched automatically to just health and household. Many of the KW in this category - about 50% - are ranking in the beauty category 

In this case, the particular product was first started in the beauty and personal care category, then the subcategory within that category switched to belong in both the beauty category and Health and Household.

I saw this across many different products as well. Not just this one.

This one in particular got moved completely into another category based on what Amazon thought it should be in. 

Back in July of 2021 Amazon released this announcement of new product types and Attributes. Product types are directly related to the category that the product is in. 

Sometimes Amazon can switch the category or sub-category without you as the seller even knowing- potentially this could change rankings and thus change sales. If the categorization.
